The ASNT8170-KMM IC receives a data signal with the rate of up to 5.6Gbps through its data input differential port and a clock signal with the frequency of up to 5.6GHz through another differential port. The signals are used by an internal register to generate 9 copies of the input data signal shifted by ½ of the clock period. Those 9 copies are linearly summed with different weights and polarities that are externally controlled through nine tap control inputs. The resulting signal with the required digital pre-emphasis is supplied to the differential output through a linear output buffer.
